Library of Cookery
A massive, 5 volume illustrated encyclopedia of cooking and domestic science. If you can get past some of the sexist writing (this book from the turn of the century presumes that all women are housewives) the book is quite interesting both as a window on how our grandmothers and greatgrandmothers lived at the time and also for some of the common sense advice it gives about nutrition and cooking, which is in many ways still good advice.

The book is broken down into five volumes, each focusing on a particular area of cooking: Volume 1 Volume 2 Volume 3 Volume 4 Volume 5
